in April 2015.
The Allen County-Scottsville High School's ROTC program presents a flag folding ceremony at a DAR meeting. Patrick Gillmore Chapter actively supports all students in the Allen County School System and their endeavors to further their education.
Constitution Week was started in 1955, when the Daughters of the American Revolution petitioned Congress to honor the Constitution by observing Constitution Week annually on September 17 - 23.
The resolution was adopted by the U.S. Congress and signed into Public Law #915 on August 2, 1956, by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Constitution Week is commemorated September 17 - 23.
Students in Allen County learn about Constitution Day during morning assembly on September 17, when the principal and teachers use strategies to help students internalize the importance of this day.
The Patrick Gillmore Chapter provides a Constitution Day display at a local elementary school, and materials to support their learning the Preamble and more about the Constitution of the United States of America.
Local fifth grade students sign a proclamation to learn and recite the Preamble of the Constitution. A student is randomly selected to receive a book about the United States Constitution.
